Delta tunnels threaten the
livelihood of native people

I am disappointed that the Santa Clara Water Valley District, which rejected the Delta twin-tunnels project six month ago, has now reversed its position and voted 4-3 in favor of it.

The Delta tunnels will cause hardship to the Winnemem Wintu People who reside in Northern California. They rely on the water for the salmon populations that have been part of their livelihood for thousands of years. Their culture depends on them.

Building the tunnels will wipe out the salmon populations as well as the livelihood of the Winnemem Wintu People.

I urge the majority of Californians to stop the project from going forward.
